🚨 2026 Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday 🌪️ The Alabama Department of Revenue is holding its annual Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday beginning Friday, February 20 at 12:01 a

m. through Sunday, February 22 at midnight.

During this time, shoppers can purchase certain severe weather preparedness supplies free of state sales tax (local sales tax may still apply).

This is a great opportunity to stock up on important safety items such as:

✅ Batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, 6-volt, 9-volt)
✅ Weather radios & portable battery-powered radios
✅ Flashlights, lanterns & emergency glow sticks
✅ First aid kits
✅ Fire extinguishers
✅ Smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
✅ Tarps, plastic sheeting, duct tape & tie-down kits
✅ Non-electric coolers & water storage containers
✅ Non-electric can openers
✅ Gas or diesel fuel tanks/containers

💡 Portable generators and power cords are also eligible (single purchase up to $1,564 or less).
